When the sun begins to dip down to the horizon, cyclists and walkers seek tranquillity by walking amongst the gigantic copper-green plane trees that surround the oval lake.
The city with its traditional traditional character, the architectural masterpieces of the Byzantine era and the 18th century, as well as the lakeside route with the dragon cave and the Virgin Mary of Mavriotissa Monastery, are points of great interest to walkers.
In addition, the lake, as well as the surrounding mountains offer special routes for mountain hiking and biking.

The well marked trails to the peaks, in the alpine meadows and the lakes of Mt. Gramos offer some the most striking and characteristic mountain hikes.
Canyoning, a special form of hiking can be performed in the narrow Gramos valley from Nestorio to the Gramousta valley. Many forest roads can be used for mountain biking, starting from Nestorio and going towards the nearby villages.
The Village of Sidirochori, also offers walking and biking possibilities for less experienced riders and kids.
